Tuesday’s Tip: What does 8bre mean?

My latest round of Luxembourg research has me stumbling across “7bre” and “8bre” a lot.  At first glance, they made absolutely no sense. And then  I realized that they’re actually a clever clerk’s shorthand.

For what? Figuring it out actually requires a little math.

7 written out is sept in French. Sept+ bre? Septembre – or September in English.

8bre is therefore October.

Knowing that should make your research a little easier!
