What notary served my family? Tuesday’s Tip

Notary records are invaluable for researching your family tree. They can provide land transfers, death information, and more. Unfortunately they’re not easy to locate.

To find notary records, you first need to know which notary served your family’s area. There is only one index online, through LuxRoots. The index opens with the location, sorted by date. If you’re lucky, your ancestor’s residence is on the list. If not, scroll down to the maps and chose the closest city. Once you have a name, you can use that to find the original records.
